CALF MAGAZINE REVIEWS KO_HOTSPOT EATERY

CALF MAGAZINE VISITED Ko_Hotspot eatery in Vosloorous in the Eastrand recently. The unique and enchanting joint serves food and love to clients who just want to chill and enjoy the day while having a clear view of the various community businesses that surround it. Owned and operated by vibrant young people, it flips the eat-out script and presents hope to an entire community.

CALF MAGAZINE presents the review of Ko_Hotspot.

#MUSIC
Good urban music is played on the background as food is served to the people. Largely urban dance music welcomes Ko_Hotspot clients, though the classics as well as smooth sounds are a feature.

#FOOD
The history of Ko_Hotspot is written all over the food’s DNA. The owner started the business by selling fried chips (fries) and the business grew and diversified without abandoning its history. The tenderly braaid chicken wings easily draw one to more tangy servings, as the fried chips accompany the rest of the food.

#CUSTOMER_CARE
The township generally is one of the few places in the world where one also gets served by the owner and personally feels the place’s standard of care. At Ko_Hotspot the Calf Magazine crew also got served by the owners, and enjoyed food prepared by the owners as well. The small talk and amazing food was served with particular care given to every detail.

#AMBIENCE
Ko_Hotspot management clearly takes great care in ensuring that the place is inviting even to anyone who lives outside Vosloorus.
More especially, the place is situated in a township bustling with small businesses surrounding it. The owners are well known and loved by the community as a whole.

*Something which will surely attract lovers is this: It is a good place to watch the sun as it sets.

#CLOSING
More rewarding was the realisation from the Calf Magazine crew that the Ko_Hotspot management are building towards a greater future; they have bigger dreams than what most people often dream of. All in all, it was a lovely day at Ko_Hotspot! The place really lives up to its name

BLACK BEAN CAFE REVIEW

• The music (soul and classic R&B) was soothing and appropriate for the day (Sunday). The Black Bean Café was alive with happiness from their clients (family, friends and kids). The music was in sync with clients’ needs, allowing for quality bonding while enjoying their meals.

• When the food was brought to the crew, one could easily see the level of appreciation to the culinary skills and the attention to detail when it was served to the CALF Magazine crew. Crew members asked themselves if the café has a qualified chef as the presentation was of high-class. The crew enquired about this and were told that Black Bean Café indeed has a qualified chef, who worked alongside a self-taught chef/grill master which is what the café is all about, i.e. the transfer of skills and exchange of knowledge.

• The waiter allocated to the crew was friendly. He ensured that the crew was comfortable and happy throughout their stay by constantly checking on them. The waiter further recommended a meal (The name of the platter) which he thought would be best suited for a group of four.

• The café precinct is soothing and inviting. It gives you a feel/glimpse of (Melrose arch).
• Another welcoming part was the neatness of the waiters as well as their uniform which made them look presentable. This adds to the feel of a classic café.

• All in all, the crew got a taste of black excellence from the time they walked in up until they left.
